Taking Action Together: “Rethinking Our Behavior Online: Hit Backspace on Hate” with Trisha Prabhu

“Rethinking Our Behavior Online: Hit Backspace on Hate”

Join Trisha Prabhu, Founder and CEO of anti-cyberbullying initiative ReThink, for a conversation about online hate and how can promote safer, kinder, more inclusive digital interactions.

ReThink is a patented, globally acclaimed app that proactively stops cyberbullying, before the damage is done. The technology has been named one of Google Play’s Most Innovative Apps and shared with youth around the world. For her efforts, Trisha/ReThink have been featured on the TED stage, at The White House, and on the Forbes 30 Under 30 list (among others!).

In this program, Trisha will discuss the most pressing digital harms today’s youth face and how youth can tackle these challenges and build healthy, safe relationships online. In particular, she will talk to youth about the power of ReThinking, or taking a moment to pause, review, and reconsider before texting or posting something online. Trisha will show how, by putting criticality at the forefront of their interactions, youth can ensure that their digital experience is rooted in positivity and kindness — not hate. Trisha will also offer attendees her top tips on being a responsible digital citizen, sharing key digital literacy insights that are crucial to thrive in the internet age.

About the Speaker

A headshot of Trisha Prabhu. She is wearing a black blazer and a navy blue shell. Her hair is tucked over one of her shoulders, and she is standing in front of a nature background. She is smiling.

Trisha Prabhu is the 23-year-old inventor and Founder and CEO of ReThink™, a patented app that stops cyberbullying before the damage is done.

The ReThink app detects offensive content and gives youth a chance to “ReThink” sending it, stopping cyberbullying before it happens. Today, in collaboration with schools and educational organizations, ReThink’s technology, educational materials, and anti-cyberbullying advocacy have been shared with youth worldwide. The app is also now available in 8 international languages on the Google Play Store (where it was named one of Google Play’s Most Innovative Apps).

For her work with ReThink, Trisha is the humble recipient of many awards, among them, the WebMD Health Hero Prodigy Award and the Princess Diana International Anti-Bullying Award. Trisha has also made waves as a contestant on ABC’s Shark Tank and as the winner of Harvard University’s President’s Innovation Challenge and the Elevate Prize.

Trisha is a TED speaker and has delivered 100+ talks in 30 cities about the power of “ReThinking.” Her debut book, “ReThink the Internet,” the world’s first-ever “by-youth, for-youth” guide to the Internet, was released in May 2022 from Penguin Random House. Trisha is a summa cum laude graduate of Harvard University. She is now pursuing her postgraduate study at the University of Oxford as a United States Rhodes Scholar.
