School Field Trip: Mona Golabek: The Children of Willesden Lane in Birmingham
Give your students the incredible opportunity to hear Mona Golabek bring her mother’s powerful story to life!
Mona Golabek is the daughter of a Holocaust survivor, a concert pianist, an author, and a storyteller. Her book The Children of Willesden Lane recounts her mother Lisa Jura’s experiences as a young Jewish musician who escaped Nazi-occupied Vienna on the Kindertransport. It celebrates resilience, the power of music, and the bonds that sustained children during the Holocaust.
Through her captivating storytelling and live piano performances, Mona will delve deeper into her mother’s journey, inspiring guests to form meaningful personal connections to this remarkable history.
This field trip event will be held at the Samford University Wright Center in Birmingham, AL on Monday, April 7th, at 10:00 a.m. Doors will open at 9:00 a.m. This event is free to all educators and students, but registration is required.
