- A specific dollar amount or asset

- A gift from the balance or residue of your estate
- Making the AHEC the beneficiary designation of certain assets

If you are considering making an outright bequest to the Alabama Holocaust Education Center, we recommend the following language:

Bequest of Specific Personal Property

If you are considering making a bequest of a percentage of your estate to the Alabama Holocaust Education Center, Inc., we recommend the following language:

Restricted Bequests
You may designate your bequest to support a specific program or purpose that reflects your personal or professional interest. For example, you may wish to make a bequest to the Teacher Workshops, the Taking Action Together program, Holocaust Film Series or any other program that is meaningful to you.
If you are making a restricted bequest, we recommend that your attorney include the following wording at the end of the provision to give the Alabama Holocaust Education Center flexibility should it no longer be possible for the Alabama Holocaust Education Center to use your gift as you originally intended.
“…for so long as the Alabama Holocaust Education Center Board of Directors determines that the need exists. Should the need no longer exist, said Board of Directors may, in its sole discretion, direct the use of my bequest for a purpose related as closely as possible to that stated above.”
Types of Bequests

Specific Bequest
A specific bequest involves making a gift of a specific dollar amount or a specific asset, such as securities, real estate, or other property in your last will and testament or trust.

Another kind of specific bequest involves leaving a specific percentage of your overall estate to charity.

Residuary Bequest
In your last will and testament or trust, you may designate where the remainder of your estate will go after all other bequests, debts, and taxes have been paid. You can designate the Alabama Holocaust Education Center as beneficiary of all or a portion of your residual estate.
Contingent Bequest: This is a bequest made on the condition that a certain event must occur before distribution to the beneficiary. For example, you may designate the Alabama Holocaust Education Center as a beneficiary if your spouse, other heirs or designees predecease you.
