The team at the Alabama Holocaust Education Center (A.H.E.C.) are stewards of memory, educating the community about the history of the Holocaust and its lessons for our world today. We envision a society that remembers the Holocaust and uses its lessons and eyewitness accounts to create respect and dignity for all people.The mission of the A.H.E.C. is to educate about the history and lessons of the Holocaust to create a more just and compassionate world recognizing the humanity of every individual.
Since opening our new Center in 2023, the A.H.E.C. is positioned to address today’s most profound and challenging issues. The Education Specialist will be a vital member of the team helping coordinate and manage details that make our organization run smoothly. This position reports to the Education Director.
This position is ideal for a candidate who enjoys working with teachers and students, is tech savvy, is very organized and pays attention to detail. The candidate should be able to thrive in a dynamic environment and have the ability to be flexible. The Education Specialist plays a critical role in supporting the Director of Education by executing school-based programs, managing relationships with educators, and ensuring seamless coordination of educational experiences.
This position is responsible for assisting with the planning for a yearly education conference, teacher workshops, implementing field trip experiences, assisting with lesson plan presentation development, and engaging with schools, educators, and community partners to enhance Holocaust education.

Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
Educator Toolkit Resource Development
- Develop interactive lesson plans, engaging presentations, and digital resources for inclusion in the A.H.E.C. Educator toolkit.
- Assist in the evaluation, selection and use of tools to help educators deliver Holocaust education using technology.
Educator Outreach and School Engagement
- Support the development and implementation of Holocaust educational programs
- Coordinate details for school field trips, including leading field trips, managing logistics, organizing educational materials, and communicating with educators.
- Facilitate tours and presentations as needed to ensure meaningful Holocaust educational experiences.
- Maintain strong relationships with school districts, administrators, and teachers to promote educational offerings.
- Assist with the development and logistics for Holocaust oriented teacher workshops
- Collect survey data from educators and students to assess program impact, refine programming and develop testimonials.
- Support “Power School” activities to ensure teachers receive professional development credits and substitute teacher or transportation reimbursements and other program-specific tasks.
- Coordinate activities related to the Speaker’s Bureau and traveling exhibits within schools.
- Assist in data collection and reporting related to educational outreach, attendance, and impact assessments.
Teaching the Holocaust Conference
- Collaborate with the Education Director to manage conference schedules, speaker logistics, materials preparation, and vendor coordination.
- Administer PheedLoop conference management software, including entry of speaker materials, attendee communications, reporting, and technical troubleshooting.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for participating educators, assisting with hotel accommodations, travel coordination, and individual support needs.
- Track registrations, payments, continuing education credits, and post-conference evaluations to ensure accurate documentation and follow-up.
- Coordinate logistical planning and on-site execution during the conference.
Attend all A.H.E.C. programming.
Other duties as assigned.

- 3-5 years of teaching preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree.
