AHEC’s professional development equips teachers with the knowledge, tools, and confidence to teach the Holocaust accurately and sensitively, empowering students to think critically and empathetically about the past and its relevance today.

Teacher Workshops

The AHEC is proud to offer academic-based professional development opportunities in the form of regularly scheduled teacher workshops. These workshops: 

  • Offer a unique opportunity to deepen your understanding of the Holocaust and human  interest studies as it pertains to your teaching 
  • Occur throughout the year, as half-day or full-day experiences  
  • Are led by leading Holocaust scholars and AHEC staff
  • Offer PowerSchool professional development credit, a certificate of achievement, and–in some cases–substitute reimbursement

Betty & Max Steinmetz Teacher Fellowship

The new Betty & Max Steinmetz Teacher Fellowship is an exciting professional opportunity designed to support and empower educators in Holocaust Studies. Through specialized training, curated resources, and ongoing professional development, the Fellowship equips teachers with tools to deepen their knowledge and enhance classroom instruction. 

Throughout the school year, Fellows will attend quarterly zoom meetings to engage with speakers, interact with peers, provide valuable input to AHEC, and become leaders in the field of Holocaust education.

PowerSchool Certification

Access the AHEC’s PowerSchool professional development credit. Available both online and in-person, we’re able to further your career while offering insight into the cutting edge of Holocaust education.
