After Nachama tried to take her life in Brive La Gaillarde, France, she was taken to St. Mary’s (St Marie) Psychiatric Hospital in Clermont-Ferrand, where she remained hidden for the duration of the war, protected by her doctor and the Catholic nuns who ran the hospital.
