“Being Mentally Strong”

As you scroll through social media, do you get more and more depressed, sad and angry? Are you stuck thinking, “we should not have to deal with this?”

As we all navigate this terribly difficult and mentally draining time, Amy Morin, Mental Strength Trainer, and Lauren Schwartz, Executive Director of Collat Jewish Family Services, will help us reclaim our control and help us learn how to be mentally strong.

About the Speakers

She’s an international bestselling author. Her books, including 13 Things Mentally Strong People Don’t Do and 13 Things Mentally Strong Women Don’t Do, have been translated into more than 40 languages and sold more than 1 million copies.

The Guardian dubbed her “the self-help guru of the moment.” Forbes calls her a “thought leadership star” and People says her book is one of the top 20 must read books of all time.

Her TEDx talk, The Secret of Becoming Mentally Strong, is one of the most viewed talks of all time with more than 23 million views.

She lives on a sailboat in the Florida Keys.

Lauren Schwartz joined Collat Jewish Family Services as Executive Director in March of 2011. A Memphis native, she holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Cornell University and a Master’s in Social Work from the University of Pennsylvania.

Lauren’s Jewish communal service career began as a social worker at CJFS. She provided counseling, parenting workshops, and developed a variety of group programs in response to community needs across the lifespan. Lauren honed her non-profit administration skills as the Director of Advancement for the N.E. Miles Jewish Day School, where she was responsible for fundraising events, marketing, and recruitment.

As leader of CJFS, Lauren has developed a strategic approach to achieve the CJFS mission, enabling aging-in-place, supporting mental health and wellness, and creating community connection building impactful, comprehensive services, collaborative partnerships, and sustainability.

Lauren is passionate about her work helping people improve their mental health and enabling seniors to age with dignity, but her most meaningful roles in life are being partner to her husband and mom to her three children.
