In telling her mother Toby Komornik Gerson’s story, Esther Levy provides a narrative of the life of a Jewish girl from Poland who was forced to spend her adolescence navigating through the Lodz Ghetto, Auschwitz, a munitions factory, the loss of her family and any semblance of the life she had known before World War II. Told from both an historical and personal account of Jewish life under Nazi control, it allows the audience to see the negative outcomes of not speaking out when communities are marginalized and targeted for persecution.

Esther Levy was born in Atlanta to a mother who was a Holocaust Survivor and a father whose entire immediate family was wiped out in the Holocaust. She has been involved in her local Jewish Community in a variety of volunteer and job opportunities since the age of fourteen.
She decided to begin telling her mother’s story of her life during the Holocaust after her death in 2006, and she has been a speaker for the Alabama Holocaust Education Center since 2007. She is currently enjoying her seven grandchildren and being a Seasoned Performer with The Red Mountain Theater, and other volunteer activities in Birmingham.
